During his speech at our wedding, Jay talked of the irreconcilable difference that looked set to pose problems for us in our marriage.\u00a0 That difference, of course, was that Justine is a dog person and Tim is a cat person.\u00a0 There have been tentative truces over this issue, with a general agreement that over time we would get one dog and two cats (since cats are smaller and better than dogs).<\/p>\n

Until now we were unsure how Nicholas would feel about this, but today he showed us exactly where his preferences lie.\u00a0 On his playmat is a toy dog rattle, which he noticed today for the first time, and his first action was to push it away.<\/p>\n
