Sitting up to the table

We’re visiting Bluewater for last-minute Christmas shopping, and have stopped for lunch. For the first time, Nicholas is sitting in a high chair up to the table with us. He’s even eaten one of Mummy’s chips, though her fork is more interesting … Continue reading

Water baby

Nicholas has started swimming lessons, which he finds both fun and terrifying in equal measure.  It’s fun bouncing around the pool, and singing “splish splash”, but he doesn’t like it when the instructor makes him go underwater.  He’s getting better at it though, and doesn’t cough and splutter when he comes up for air now. A trip to the park

We were visited today by Kieron, Sonia, Samuel and Jacob. Sam and Nicholas played at rolling the ball to each other, and Sam showed Nicholas his dinosaurs. Continue reading

Unpacking day – or week, or month …

We are now firmly placed in our new house, surrounded by hundreds of boxes.  We have no idea where all this stuff lived in our old flat!  It’s going to take quite a while to sort everything out, but at least we now have a loft in which to store things we’re not using!

Packing day

We’re moving, finally, and today is packing day.  While we’ve spent a lot of time over the last few weeks sorting out what we need and throwing away heaps of rubbish, our flat remained a living area with shelves full of books, drawers full of clothes, and a TV cabinet full of consoles.

Today, though, we have Military Movers in, who are filling hundreds of boxes fuelled only by tea and biscuits.  The only problem we have is that Nicholas hates the sound of packing tape coming off the roll, so he is frequently bursting into tears as each box is completed.

Still, hopefully he will find the extra space in our new house worth the tape fears!

Visiting the Olympics and Paralympics

We were very fortunate to get tickets to a number of events at the Olympic and Paralympic games.  Tim went to the badminton and hockey events with Jay, because that was a long day finishing in an open-air arena, but Justine and Nicholas went with Tim to the handball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, athletics, sitting volleyball, and wheelchair basketball. A big family holiday

We have been in Devon, near Banstable, for the past week, on holiday with Tim’s family and Justine’s Mum.  Nicholas has enjoyed having his cousins, aunts and uncles, and of course his grandparents around.  Tim and Justine have appreciated having the extra pairs of hands as well! Continue reading

The Mummy effect

Nicholas is generally a happy baby, but he’s never happier than when he’s with his Mummy.  Justine has a magical effect on our little boy, turning frowns into smiles and smiles into laughter.  He is contented with his Mummy – and inquisitive about what’s going on, since he feels braver.
