Lots of toys

Nicholas has lots of toys, many of which were bought by our friends.  He doesn’t have a clear favourite, though he seems increasingly interested in his Daddy’s toys as well …

Jay’s stag do

I got back earlier from Jay’s stag do, and my stomach may take a little while longer to recover.  We spent a great day sailing, then in the arcades on Brighton pier (well, in the pub on Brighton pier with a couple of trips to the arcades and the amusements), then in an Italian restaurant and a nightclub overlooking the beach.  Hopefully Jay had a good time!

How to clean a baby

While it’s tempting, we probably shouldn’t put him in with the rest of the laundry, even if he did create most of it!

A trip to South Africa

I’ve been travelling with work for the past few days, flying to South Africa on Sunday evening and arriving back around an hour ago.  Even on an 11-hour flight with noise, catering, turbulance and the need to be awake for take-off and landing, I got a better night’s sleep than usual!

It’s seemed like a long trip; even though I spoke to Justine and Nicholas every day by Skype, and I’m glad to be home – I’m looking forward to smiles from my little boy!

Successful operations

When Nicholas was born, he had a tongue-tie which meant that he wasn’t able to move his tongue very far.  When he was nine days old, he had an operation to correct this.

We know it was a successful operation, because he is now constantly putting his tongue out and tasting his clothes, his hands, and anything that comes near!

Tim’s Fathers’ Day present

Nicholas was very clever and made Tim a Fathers’ Day present by having photos taken with different letters and having them arranged in a frame.  He started to get a bit bored by the time that the ‘A’ photo was being taken, but enjoyed eating the blue ‘D’! Continue reading

Nicholas meets Vicky, Dave, Daisy and Teddy

Tim’s cousin Vicky had a barbecue today, and luckily the sunshine stuck around so that everyone could sit outside.  Nicholas sat in the shade for most of the afternoon.  Tim’s sister’s family was also there, and Nicholas was able to meet his cousins Finley and Jack again.

Nicholas chooses his side in the war

During his speech at our wedding, Jay talked of the irreconcilable difference that looked set to pose problems for us in our marriage.  That difference, of course, was that Justine is a dog person and Tim is a cat person.  There have been tentative truces over this issue, with a general agreement that over time we would get one dog and two cats (since cats are smaller and better than dogs).

Flying

If there’s one thing that always makes Nicholas laugh, it’s being lifted in the air above his Mummy or Daddy’s head.  Unfortunately he’s getting to be quite heavy and so Justine is starting to struggle – but Tim can do bench-press with baby exercises …

Nicholas meets Jack

Tim’s sister has travelled down to Orpington for a couple of weeks, which means that Nicholas can meet his new cousin Jack as well as his older brother Finley.  Jack was born just after Anne and Andrew’s wedding, which meant that it’s taken a while for them to be in the same location!
